Mini Tummy Tuck

A tummy tuck has long been the ideal procedure for removing stubborn fat and loose skin that does not respond well to diet and exercise from the abdominal region. However, there are many cases where people suffer from these issues on a much smaller level and undergoing a full tummy tuck is not the best solution. Fortunately, patients who are currently suffering from a small amount of stubborn fat and loose skin can benefit from a procedure known as the mini tummy tuck.

What is a Mini Tummy Tuck?

A mini tummy tuck is a variation of the traditional tummy tuck and is designed to help remove a small amount of stubborn fat and excess skin from the abdominal area. Also known as a mini abdominoplasty, the mini tummy tuck is confined to the supra-pubic area (skin just above lower abdomen).

Good Candidates for a Mini Tummy Tuck

A mini tummy tuck is a useful procedure for both men and women who are in relatively good shape, but suffer from a small degree of stubborn fat and loose skin that they want to get rid of. Good candidates are within their ideal weight range, are in good physical health, and have realistic expectations about the possibilities of the procedure. We’ll perform an assessment of your body as a whole and ask you about your medical history to determine if a mini tummy tuck is the right option for you.

Preparing For A Tummy Tuck

Your journey to the abdominal contours of your dreams will begin with a consultation. You will be given pre-operative instructions that you must adhere to in order to achieve the best results. These instructions will require you to stop smoking, drinking alcohol, and taking certain medications about a week before the surgery.

The Tummy Tuck Procedure

The procedure begins with the administration of an anesthetic to help you feel comfortable during the surgery. Since the mini tummy tuck makes use of a short-scar incision, it will be made just above the pubic bone. If you have previously had a c-section, we’ll use the same incision mark to make yours. Dr. Eberbach will then remove the underling fat and loose skin from the area. Once the necessary corrections are made, he will pull the remaining skin and close the incision.

Dr. Eberbach and his staff are so helpful and friendly, and they put me at ease before, during, and after my procedure. Dr. E explained everything thoroughly so I knew what to expect, and they answered all of my questions. Dr. E is a very skilled surgeon and I am very pleased with my results. – K.C.

Recovery After a Mini Tummy Tuck

A mini tummy tuck is a much faster procedure than the traditional method and has an easier recovery process. Since the surgery is less invasive, the resulting downtime is much shorter. Patients can expect to take about one to two weeks off work to rest and relax. We advise that you also avoid performing strenuous physical activities for a few weeks after the surgery.
You may experience some bruising and swelling after the procedure, but this is temporary and will subside. We’ll provide medication help manage any resulting discomfort as you heal.
