Q: What types of fillers do you offer?
A: At Eberbach Plastic Surgery (A division of IBI Healthcare) we offer a variety of fillers, the vast majority are from the Juvéderm collection by Allergan. These FDA approved fillers come in different forms and are designed to be used in different areas of the face such as the lips, cheeks and marionette lines. Below you will find the most common fillers we use.

Juvéderm Voluma XC– As we age, we lose volume in our cheeks, which gives the appearance of a more hollowed aged face. Voluma XC is most commonly used to add back youthful contours to the cheeks. Results are instant and last up to 2 years. For most patients a minimum of 2 syringes is needed to restore cheek volume.

Juvéderm Ultra XC– This is the most popular product at our office to plump lips. For most patients 1-2 syringes is required depending on the desired result.

Juvederm Ultra Plus XC– We use this product to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and lines. The most common areas include “smile lines,” and nasolabial folds (the creases that run from the nose to just under the corner of the mouth).

Juvederm Vollure XC– This filler adds subtle volume to smooth moderate to several facial wrinkles and lines. Vollure is excellent for improving the appearance of laugh lines, marionette lines and horizontal chin lines.

Juvederm Vobella XC– Juvéderm Volbella is a newer formulation of filler by Allergan which has become very popular in our office. This product can be used to add subtle lip volume, soften vertical lip lines and lines around the mouth.

Radiesse-This product is not part of the Juvederm collection. Radiesse can be used to plump cheeks and treat moderate facial creases, such as the nasal labial folds. This filler is made from calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres in a soft gel. It is very common for our Expert Injector to use Radiesse in the cheeks in conjunction to Voluma XC.

Q: How do fillers work?
A: The main ingredient in Juvéderm is hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring sugar found in the body that gives the skin volume, elasticity and moisture. As we age, the hyaluronic acid gets depleted resulting in volume loss. When injected, HA acts like a sponge to attract water into the skin, plumping up the area in which it was injected. Research also shows that hyaluronic acid also boosts the skin’s own collagen production.

A: In the right hands, the capability of these fillers is both vast and versatile with results lasting up to 2 years (depending on the type of filler).

Q: How does Botox work?
A: Botox delivers predictable, subtle results, so you look like you, only with less noticeable facial lines. Repeated muscle contractions from frowning, squinting, or raising eyebrows cause skin to furrow and fold, gradually resulting in the formation of facial lines. BOTOX® Cosmetic works beneath the surface and temporarily reduces the underlying muscle activity that causes moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines in adults – to help them look visibly smoother. Botox injections contain botulinum toxin, which is produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. This toxin effectively inhibits muscle contraction by blocking particular chemical signals from neurons.

Q: Am I a good candidate for Botox?
A: Botox is suitable for healthy individuals who want to renew their facial features and obtain a more youthful appearance. Candidates must have realistic expectations in terms of results (you will not look like you had a face lift from just getting Botox). There is no age limit for Botox, at Eberbach Plastic Surgery many of our regular Botox patients are in their 70’s and even 80’s.

Q: How much does Botox cost?
A: At Eberbach Plastic Surgery (a division of IBI Helathcare) we charge $14 per unit, usually 16 units per area is required making the average cost $224 per area. For hyperhidrosis an average of 100 units is required.

We recommend patients use ice to help reduce swelling and bruising. Makeup can also be used to cover mild bruising.
