Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)
A tummy tuck is a very popular procedure for patients who have had massive weight loss, have excess or sagging skin or have had children. Tummy tuck surgery, also known as abdominoplasty, removes excess fat and skin and restores weakened or separated muscles creating an abdominal profile that is flatter, firmer and more youthful. It is very common for patients to have this procedure to get their “pre-baby” bodies back. A tummy tuck will remove most, if not all stretch marks that are below the belly button. Most patients report improved self-esteem as a result of this procedure.
Dr. Eberbach, a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon serving the Tampa Bay area, has performed over 1,000 tummy tucks in his 30 year career. Dr. E customizes every tummy tuck for that patient. He has the patient wear a bikini on surgery day, the incision for the tummy tuck is hidden low under where the bikini is naturally worn. Every tummy tuck at Eberbach Plastic Surgery includes liposuction of the abdomen and flanks as well as muscle plication (putting muscles back together that have been separated from having babies). The low incision is just one of the things that gets Dr. Eberbach apart from the rest. Dr. Eberbach uses advanced techniques that allows him to do drainless tummy tucks.
It is important that a patient is at their goal weight before having this procedure done. A tummy tuck is not a substitute for weight loss or an appropriate exercise program. This procedure can get rid of external fat (what you can grab) but not internal. At Eberbach Plastic Surgery we do require a BMI of 29 or below for safety reasons (massive weight loss can be the exception to the rule). Check my BMI
When to Consider a Tummy Tuck
- If you’ve got flab, stretch marks or excess skin in your abdomen that does not improve with diet or exercise.
- If the shape of your abdomen has been affected by pregnancy or massive weight loss.
- If you feel that your protruding abdomen is unattractive.
- If your self-confidence is marred by your stomach contour.
It is very common to combine a tummy tuck with a breast procedure, also referred to as a Mommy Makeover.
