Tummy Tuck Tampa Bay, Florida

A tummy tuck is a very popular procedure for patients who have had massive weight loss, have excess or sagging skin or have had children. Tummy tuck surgery, also known as abdominoplasty, removes excess fat and skin and restores weakened or separated muscles creating an abdominal profile that is flatter, firmer and more youthful. It is very common for patients to have this procedure to get their “pre-baby” bodies back. A tummy tuck will remove most, if not all stretch marks that are below the belly button. Most patients report improved self-esteem as a result of this procedure.

The Tummy Tuck Procedure

Dr. Eberbach, a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon serving the Tampa Bay area, has performed over 1,000 tummy tucks in his 30-year career. Dr. E customizes every tummy tuck according to each patient’s unique goals. He has the patient wear a bikini on surgery day, and makes a well-hidden incision positioned where the bikini is naturally worn. This helps ensure the limited visibility of any occurring post-surgical marks.

Every tummy tuck at Eberbach Plastic Surgery includes liposuction of the abdomen and flanks as well as muscle plication (putting muscles back together that have been separated from having babies). The low incision is just one of the things that sets gets Dr. Eberbach apart from the rest. Dr. Eberbach uses advanced techniques that allows him to do drainless tummy tucks.

Good Candidates for Tummy Tuck Surgery

If you have been struggling to rid yourself of the loose skin and stubborn fat in your abdominal region, then a tummy tuck may be the solution you’ve been looking for. During your consultation, Dr. Eberbach will assess your bodily contours and ask you about your medical history to determine if the surgery is a good fit for you.

A patient must be at their goal weight before having this procedure done. A tummy tuck is not a substitute for weight loss or an appropriate exercise program. This procedure can get rid of external fat (what you can grab) but not internal. At Eberbach Plastic Surgery we do require a BMI of 27 or below for safety reasons (massive weight loss can be the exception to the rule). Check my BMI

If you are in good physical health and have realistic expectations, Dr. E will prepare a treatment plan according to your specific needs.

When to Consider a Tummy Tuck

A tummy tuck is an excellent option for those who want to redefine their abdominal contours and achieve flatter, more toned abs. You should consider undergoing the procedure if:

  • You’ve got flab, stretch marks or excess skin in your abdomen that does not improve with diet or exercise.
  • The shape of your abdomen has been affected by pregnancy or massive weight loss.
  • You feel that your protruding abdomen is unattractive.
  • Your stomach contour mars your self-confidence
  • You are done having children and want your pre-baby belly back

It is very common to combine a tummy tuck with other cosmetic procedures such as a breast procedure, into one comprehensive package known as a Mommy Makeover.

Exparel contains specially formulated bupivacaine that is released into the body slowly but consistently to prolong the numbing effects. As a result, Exparel has been shown to provide tummy tuck patients pain relief for several days after surgery.
