Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)

A flat and well-toned abdomen is something many of us strive for through exercise and weight control. Sometimes these methods cannot achieve our goals. Abdominoplasty removes excess fat and skin, and in most cases restores weakened or separated muscles creating an abdominal profile that is smoother and firmer. Liposuction of the abdomen and flanks (love handles) is also included with the abdominoplasty to ensure patients get the best result possible. A mini abdominoplasty can also be performed on patients who only have a little extra skin on the lower abdomen.

Body Lift

Body lifting is perhaps one of the most exciting advances in plastic surgery in years. The older techniques for buttocks lifting and thigh lifting causes unsightly scars and did not provide for true rejuvenation of the lower body. Lower body lifting as advocated by Dr. Ted Lockwood has transformed our ability to reshape the torso and legs. It can give new life to those with massive weight-loss, and restore a figure lost to the effects of gravity and age.

A lower body lift incorporates an abdominoplasty, liposuction of the entire trunk, liposuction of the circumferential thighs, thigh lifting, and buttocks lifting. It can be used for massive weight-loss patients such as those that have undergone gastric bypass, Lap band procedures or diet induced weight-loss. It also has its place in those who developed significant sagging or hang to their buttocks or cellulite caused by loose skin of the legs.

The incisions and resulting scars from body lifting are the same as for an abdominoplasty but do extend around the hips to the back. They are meticulously placed to be covered by a small bikini bottom swimsuit. This operation does require a hospital stay of between two and four days. This kind of surgery is truly transforming and does require a commitment on the part of the patient to maintain excellent health and appropriate body weight.

Body-Jet Water-Jet Assisted Liposuction

Experience the latest innovation in liposuction with Body-Jet! Water-Jet assisted liposuction is a simple cosmetic surgery procedure designed to simply wash the fat away with a gentle fluid spray.

Water assisted liposuction is the latest in liposuction technology. It can be applied to multiple areas of the body during the same session, and after the surgery you can feel the smoothed skin, without the pain and bruises found in standard liposuction procedures.

The Water-Jet Assisted Liposuction technique was developed to avoid the problems associated with tumescent infiltration used in standard liposuction procedures. Tumescent infiltration causes tissue swelling which lowers operative accuracy and can result in serious side effects. Body-Jet Liposuction gently washes away the fat without traumatizing other structures such as blood vessels and nerves.

Water-Jet liposuction has shown to be clearly superior to traditional methods because of the dramatically reduced session length and less pain. With Body-Jet Liposuction less manual pressure is needed to remove the fat and thus a simple local anesthetic can be used.

Referred to often by plastic surgeons and patients as ‘water lipo’ or ‘H2O lipo,’ this latest technology offers a new gentle technique for body contouring and body sculpting. Body-Jet liposuction offers patients a totally different experience from standard tumescent liposuction or even laser-assisted liposuction. Body-Jet liposuction offers the ultimate in fat removal with minimal downtime, fast recovery and excellent results.

Brachioplasty (Arm Lift)

Brachioplasty is a pretty straightforward procedure. It reduces the excess skin of the upper arms. The excess skin, sometimes referred to as bat wings, normally comes from massive weight loss or could simply be hereditary. Liposuction is used to empty out the excess fat and then the excess skin is also removed.

Liposuction

Liposuction is a wonderful tool. Chunky or heavy thighs, love handles, double chins and more can be eliminated with liposuction. It is a very safe and effective method of removing unwanted fat deposits from just about any part of the body. The result can be a slimmer, or flatter, or more sculptured body contour. It is often combined with other procedures such as abdominoplasty or lower body lifting provide an even better result.

Liposuction isn't for everyone however and there are inherent risks. This operative technique provides for often dramatic improvement in the patient's shape. Ultrasonic, tumescent, and power assisted techniques are variations on a theme and each have their place. Following surgery, you wear a snug, tightfitting "girdle" for several weeks. This reduces swelling and helps the skin shrink to your new body's shape. There can be some temporary bruising or skin discoloration after having liposuction. The area that is liposuctioned may also feel numb or firm to the touch for a short time. Overall, most patients can resume their normal day-to-day schedule within a few days.

The average healing time is about six weeks but contour changes may continue for many months. It is important to understand that liposuction is not a substitute for diet and exercise, nor a cure for obesity. To get the most from this procedure, you should be of average weight with extra fat localized to specific areas. Liposuction removes only fat, it cannot eliminate dimpling or correct skin looseness. These problems require some form of skin tightening such as an abdominoplasty, or thigh lifting for example.
