Eyelid Lift
Conveniently located to serve Tampa Bay, Florida

Blepharoplasty, also known as an eyelid lift, is a facial rejuvenation procedure that can restore the appearance of droopy and wrinkled eyelids and reduce puffiness around the lower eyelid. Eberbach Plastic Surgery in Tampa Bay offers blepharoplasty for patients who want to give their eyes a more youthful and vibrant appearance.

Blepharoplasty/Eyelid Lift

What Is Blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty is a procedure where excess skin is removed from the upper and lower eyelids in order to give the eyelids a smoother and more youthful appearance. Aging and other factors can lead to skin laxity which causes wrinkling and dropping in the upper eyelids. Blepharoplasty removes excess tissue and lifts the remaining tissue to eliminate wrinkling and make the eyes appear more alert.

The incisions for the procedure are carefully made along the natural creases of the upper eyelid. Placing them along this crease will help to hide the appearance of any post-surgical marks for more natural-looking results.

Underlying fatty tissue that produces bagginess in the lower lids is either removed or repositioned to reduce puffiness underneath the eyes without giving them a sunken appearance.

Plastic surgeon Dr. Mark Eberbach specializes in procedures of the face and can provide you with natural-looking results from your blepharoplasty. At this time, Dr. Eberbach is not performing lower blepharoplasty, but upper eyelid blepharoplasty is still available.

When to Consider Eyelid Surgery

  • If you have excess, hanging skin covering the natural fold of the upper eyelids
  • If you have loose skin hanging down from the upper eyelids over the eyelashes
  • If your upper and lower eyelids appear puffy, making your eyes look tired and aged
  • If you have deep grooves under your eyes

Blepharoplasty can also be performed along with other facial procedures as a way to complement or enhance the patient’s overall results. Eyelid surgery is often performed in conjunction with a facelift, brow lift, or FaceTite procedure for more dramatic facial rejuvenation.

I could not have been more pleased with my experience. Meeting with Dr. Eberbach and his staff left me with the confidence that I definitely found the right doctor for my procedure! My surgery and recovery went even better than I expected and I’m very pleased with my final result. I feel like Dr. Eberbach really listened to help me achieve the result I was looking for. I’m so grateful! I would never think twice about referring any potential clients. Thank you again!

Your Blepharoplasty Consultation

When patients come in for an eyelid lift, Dr. Eberbach will ask them about their expectations and goals for the procedure. After that, their eyelids will be examined to better understand their unique facial anatomy.

Patients will be asked to provide details about their medical history, including any medications they are currently taking and any allergies. Following that, the steps involved in eye lifts will be explained, along with any other pertinent information about the procedure.

Your Blepharoplasty Session

At the start of an eyelid lift, either general anesthesia or a combination of local anesthesia and sedation is administered. An incision is then made. For the upper eyelids, the incision is made on the natural crease at the top of the lid.

Next, the excess skin and muscle tissues are removed, and the remaining skin and muscles are tightened. Excess fat is removed and/or repositioned. After this, the incision is then closed, and the patient is allowed to rest.

Recovering from Blepharoplasty

Any bruising and swelling following eyelid surgery will take around two weeks to dissipate. Post-surgical marks will be well hidden to help ensure your results look as natural as possible. Most patients return to work once they feel comfortable enough with their appearance. Many return a few days after surgery.
