IBI Eberbach

Gynecomastia, also referred to as a male breast reduction, is a very common procedure for our cosmetic facility. The goal of gynecomastia treatment is to reduce breast size in men who are embarrassed by their large breasts.  Our goal is to give the patient a firmer more masculine contour so that the patient is comfortable and confident. Reduction methods include liposuction, cutting out excess glandular tissue, or using a combination of liposuction and excision. If you are treated by a board-certified plastic surgeon, gynecomastia can be effectively and safely improved or corrected completely.

When to Consider Gynecomastia Treatment

  • If you are reluctant to remove your shirt in public, to swim, to participate in sports, or to exercise at a gym.
  • If you want to improve your overall body proportions.
  • If you experience psychological discomfort associated with large breasts.
  • If you want to increase your social confidence.

How is the Surgery Performed?

Men in and around Tampa Bay often come to Eberbach Plastic Surgery for treatment. Because they are unable to get rid of the excess breast tissue without surgery. A gynecomastia is performed under general anesthesia at our certified surgical facility located in Hudson, Florida. Our surgeons use a combination of liposuction and direct incision to remove the tissue, scars are very minimal. It takes about 1 hour to perform this procedure with patients going home the same day.

Recovery After Gynecomastia

Most patients return to work for a “desk job” in a few short days. Our average patient will have surgery on a Thursday returning to work Monday. Patients are sent home in a compression garment similar to Under Armour. Strenuous activity, such as the gym, can be resumed 3 weeks after having surgery.
